Upon deciding to have non-gaming cards graded, the Beckett Grading form is a critical step in the process. This form serves as your official request for service, indicating your personal details, the cards to be graded, and your chosen service level. It's important to fill out this form accurately to ensure your cards are graded according to your expectations. Below are step-by-step instructions to guide you through filling out the Beckett Grading form.
Once the form is filled out and reviewed for accuracy, include it with your card submission. Ensure that the cards are packed securely and in accordance with any recommendations provided by Beckett Grading Services to prevent damage during shipping. Upon receipt, Beckett will process your submission, and you'll be one step closer to having your cards professionally graded.
The Beckett Grading form is a document used by individuals wishing to submit non-gaming trading cards (such as sports cards) for grading by Beckett Grading Services (BGS). This service evaluates the condition of cards and assigns them a grade, which can affect the card's value. Any collector looking to have their cards graded, either for personal interest or before selling, should use this form.
There are several steps involved in submitting your cards for grading with Beckett:
Fees for Beckett Grading Services are structured based on several factors:
Specific costs including the grading fee per card, autograph certification fee, and oversized item surcharge are detailed on the form. Remember to add these costs together, along with return postage and insurance, to calculate the total amount due.
Beckett Grading takes the authenticity of cards seriously. If a card submitted for grading is found to be altered in any way (e.g., trimmed, recolored), Beckett offers two options:
In both scenarios, standard grading fees will apply, underscoring the importance of carefully reviewing your cards before submission to ensure they are free of alterations.
When completing the Beckett Grading form, particularly for non-gaming cards, collectors and first-time submitters often encounter pitfalls that can lead to delays in processing or additional, unexpected fees. By recognizing these common mistakes in advance, individuals can ensure a smoother submission process. Herein are four prevalent errors that should be avoided:
Incorrect or Incomplete Shipping Information: The address and shipping preferences are critical components of the Beckett Grading form. A mistake many people make is not specifying whether their return shipment should go to a residential or business address. Further complicating matters, some fail to indicate their shipping method of choice clearly in the 'SHIP VIA' box. Selecting the most appropriate and cost-effective shipping option while ensuring the form matches your desired return method minimizes the risk of delivery issues or unforeseen expenses.
Not Using Beckett-Specific Terminology: On the section of the form where submitters need to list all cards being sent in, it's paramount to use standard Beckett terminology for the year of issue, set name or company, and card/player name. This mistake is often overlooked but can lead to misunderstandings regarding what exactly is being submitted, potentially affecting the grading process. Ensuring clarity and consistency with Beckett's own language facilitates a more streamlined and accurate grading service.
Miscalculating Payment: Determining the correct amount owed involves several steps, including totaling the number of cards submitted, multiplying by the price per card, adding fees for any oversized items or certified autographs, and accounting for return postage and insurance. Texas residents must also remember to add sales tax. Overlooking any of these steps or misapplying the pricing structure can result in underpayment or overpayment. Accuracy in this calculation is essential to avoid delays or the need for additional payments.
Omitting Signature and Date: The bottom section of the form requires a signature to confirm that the submitter agrees to the terms and conditions and has provided accurate information. Additionally, the date of submission must be included. These components are frequently missed but are crucial for Beckett to process the submission. The signature verifies the submitter's acknowledgement of the grading service's procedures, while the date helps track the submission through Beckett's system.
A careful review of the Beckett Grading form against these common errors can significantly enhance the submission experience. Paying attention to the details ensures that your cards are graded in a timely and efficient manner, allowing you to enjoy your collecting hobby with minimal disruptions.
Complementing the Beckett Grading form, which is essential for submitting non-gaming cards for grading, several other forms and documents are frequently utilized throughout the process to ensure accuracy, authentication, and protection of your collectibles. From submission to return, each document plays a critical role in the grading journey.
Together, these forms and documents streamline the submission process, ensuring each card is accurately graded, authenticated, and safely returned. They not only facilitate a smoother transaction but also enhance the overall customer experience by providing transparency, security, and confidence in the grading service provided.

When submitting your collectible cards for grading through Beckett Grading Services, there are several do's and don'ts that you should be aware of to ensure your submission goes smoothly. Here are eight tips to help you with the process:
Following these guidelines will help ensure your card grading process is expedited and free of errors. Remember, it's not just about getting your cards graded; it's about ensuring they are assessed accurately and returned to you safely.
When dealing with Beckett Grading Services (BGS) for your card grading needs, it's crucial to understand what the process involves thoroughly. However, there is a variety of misconceptions that can create confusion. Below, we address six common mistakes people make about the Beckett Grading form and shed light on the actual processes and requirements.
Only the official Beckett-issued submission form is accepted for card submissions. Using a handwritten copy or any other form will render your submission void.
Cards must be accompanied by full payment based on the grading service selected. Submission without payment will prevent your cards from being graded.
Declaring the value of each card or lot is mandatory for insurance during return shipping. This declared value is utilized to determine insurance costs and the maximum claimable amount in case of loss or damage.
The owner’s declared value is used for insurance purposes only. If a claim is necessary, each card’s value is based on the actual market value, not exceeding the insured value assigned by the customer.
Additional fees apply for items larger than 3x5 inches. This surcharge is necessary due to the extra handling and storage requirements for larger items.
Texas residents must add an 8.25% sales tax to their grading service and shipping costs unless the cards are for resale and a valid resale tax ID number is provided.
By understanding these key points, collectors can ensure their submissions are processed smoothly and avoid any unexpected issues. Always refer to the official Beckett website for the most current information and guidelines regarding card grading submissions.
When using the Beckett Grading form for non-gaming cards, there are several key points that every collector or submitter should be aware of:
Submitting Cards: Beckett Grading Services (BGS) accepts most licensed cards up to 8.5 inches by 11 inches for grading. Oversized items larger than 3x5 inches will incur additional fees.
Card Packaging: Cards should be sent in oversized semi-rigid holders, such as a Card Saver I, with penny sleeves. This helps prevent damage during shipping.
Submission Form Requirements: Every card submission must be accompanied by a Beckett-issued submission form. The form must be filled out completely, including the service level selected and total amount due.
Account Number: First-time submitters will be assigned an account number upon receipt of their order. This account number should be used for future submissions.
Return Shipping: The preferred return shipping method should be clearly indicated in the 'SHIP VIA' box on the submission form. FedEx Ground is the standard option unless otherwise specified.
Payment: Payment must be provided with the submission, and all payments must be in U.S. dollars. The form includes space to indicate payment type, including personal checks or credit cards.
Insurance and Declared Value: Include insurance for return shipping based on the declared value of the cards. This declared value will also determine the cost of insurance for the return shipment and the maximum claimable amount in case of loss or damage.
Understanding these guidelines can ensure a smooth submission process to Beckett Grading Services. It is also advisable to refer to the latest guidance on www.beckett.com/grading for the most up-to-date information and any changes to submission rules or fees.
